Alexandria University is considered to be the third university in Egypt after Al-Azhar and Cairo universities. It is located in Alexandria “the second largest city and the main harbor of Egypt”, and it serves mainly the students of four governorates include among almost 40% of the industrial companies of Egypt.
Alexandria University is a coastal university, so it serves a category of Egyptian people who has unique features, as they are open to cultures of others, tolerant, accepting the others, ready for constructive dialogue and exchange of ideas.
The city of Alexandria and its ancient university located at the intersection of four major circuits:
First: The Arab Circuit; as Alexandria is sponsoring the Beirut Arab University since its inception in the sixties of the last century, and it is fostering the University of Juba in southern Sudan.
Second: The Franco-African Circuit; as Alexandria is the headquarters of Singor University for higher studies.
Third: The Mediterranean Circuit; and this is because of the location of Alexandria city and its ancient links with the cities of the coast of Africa and Europe and Asia. And also because of the presence of foreign colonies for long periods in it.
Fourth: The international circuit; as the city of Alexandria is the headquarters of ancient Alexandria Library, which became since its re-establishment a platform for thought and science, and a forum for the exchange of ideas and views on the global level.
It is already clear the importance of the vital role played by the University of Alexandria on the different levels, that’s why the successive administrations of the university had put particular politics in order to comply with the requirements of this role and with the long history of the university. Besides, the university has raised the slogan of "excellence in education" to its students.
