The development of Higher Education is considered to be one of the basic requirements that all nations seek to take care of it, through both good preparation and also the development of human resources, and that’s for the national development and interaction with the requirements and challenges of the era of incredible information development and globalization's culture.

Therefore, the modernization of higher education in general, and the developing of the staff members skills, plays an effective role in raising the efficiency of output of higher education, which is the main objective in order to enable graduates to face competition in the global labor market.

So, the website of the UPMU of Alexandria University presents the activities in the areas of modernization of the higher education and further developing the skills of staff members of faculties.

In order to achieve these goals, the Ministry of Higher Education prepared a special strategy to develop the higher education, this strategy has been translated into twenty-five projects covering different areas of education development, twelve of them were assembled in six main projects and therefore, were given priority to be funded and implemented through a convention in the form of a loan between the Egyptian government and the World Bank.

The site includes data of the following projects:

• Higher Education Enhancement Project Fund (HEEPF).
• Quality Assurance and Accreditation Project (QAAP).
• Faculty Leaders Development Project (FLDP).
• Information and Communication Technology Project (ICTP).
• Faculty of Education Project (FOEP).
• Egyptian Technology Colleges Project (ETCP).

Finally, It is noteworthy that the renaissance sought by Alexandria University in the higher education development comes according to the efforts of its professors, staff members and administrators. Therefore, we express our thanks and gratitude to all those who contributed - even with a small role - in the construction of such a growing's structure.

Our website is prepared with the aim to be a guide for all projects’ managements in Alexandria University; in order to facilitate the projects’ procedures between the UPMU and the projects’ members of the university as well as the administrators in all faculties of our university. .

Consequently, it will be helping both the UPMU and the contractors to have a direct connection and facilitate the procedures in case of tenders as well as the suppliers for the necessary equipments of the UPMU. It also includes a briefed statement for every project and sub-unit that the UPMU manages and clarifies also the offered technical support.

Finally, we would like to thank all professors and staff members of Alexandria University who take a part in the foundation of this unit until it gains success. We forward our thanks to the administrators too, in the UPMU for their great efforts in helping projects’ members, handling difficulties and solving problems which may occur in any project dealing with the UPMU.
